Students

Students have the most important role to play in the overall divestment movement. In fact, this nation wide movement is mostly student lead. Although, California Teachers for Fossil Fuel Divestment is working to get their teacher retirement fund (CalSTRS) divested from fossil fuels, we still need the support of our students. After all, we are fighting for your future.
Here is what you can do. Start by signing out petition. Then talk to your teachers and inform them about California Teachers for Fossil Fuel Divestment and our goals, share our petition with them and ask them to share it with their colleagues. Remember to be respectful.

Students can also go to school board meetings to ask the school board to support the divestment movement by passing a resolution to divest and/or support the divestment movement. You can find the date, location and time of these meetings by looking up your school district online. Don't forget to bring your parents.

If your school has an environmental club on campus attend their meetings and organize the group to push for California teachers to divest CalSTRS from fossil fuels. If your school doesn't have any type of environmental club, start one! There are lots of resources from many groups online.
